Current legislation on the use of animal feathers

To produce its down garments and duvets, Borgo Piumini uses only feathers obtained with full respect for animal welfare, as required by current legislation.
The feathers come from certified farms that ensure compliance with all procedures established by law, specifically Legislative Decree No. 146 of March 26, 2001.
This decree outlines the measures to be followed in breeding practices, including the strict obligation of the breeder to ensure animal welfare and prevent any suffering.

In accordance with the law, duck feathers are collected only after slaughter, and therefore only from animals that are already dead.
Any other method of feather collection is not permitted, and feather removal operations must be carried out by qualified personnel.

The leading European duvet manufacturers, members of EDFA (European Down and Feather Association), are committed to protecting the interests of both consumers and animals.
The association stands as a guarantee of adherence to a shared set of procedures and ethical values.
